Lake Natron is in northern Tanzania, just over a 100 km northwest of the city of Arusha. The lake lays at the foot of the Africa’s only volcano – Oldonyo Lengai or the Mountain of God. The elongated lake is 56 km long from north to south, and 24 km wide. The area receives irregular seasonal rainfall, mainly between December and May. Lake Natron is also close to other National parks, such as: Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the south and the Northern Serengeti National Park in the west.
