Ngorongoro Crater

This is a very special area protected and known as UNESCO heritage. Located in northen Tanzania, it is on the road to the famous Serengeti park. The conservation area covers plateaus, savannahs, and has its own climate in high-altitude plains. The Ngorongoro crater which is the world largest intact volcanic caldera gave the name to this place. More than 600 meters deep on the sides, it is a big bowl home of more than 30 000 animals. Wildlife is very varied in the crater and has the particularity to be one of the only region to shelter black rhinoceros, an endangered species present in very few African countries nowadays and part of the famous “big five” team.
